WHAT TO BRING:
Dress is casual. Clothing should be light, preferably cotton with at least one long sleeved shirt and pants. Bathing suit, thongs or sandals and sneakers or walking boots, camera, replacement batteries, spares, sun-screen, insect repellent, sunglasses and sunhat.
Duration: 4 Days/ 3 Nights
Day 01: Airport – Kumai – Proboscis Tour – Houseboat (L,D)
On arrival at Pangkalan Bun airport, you will be met by your guide and then transferred to Kumai. Onboard you will cross the Kumai River approximately 15 minutes to the main river Seikonyer. Cruising up river for about 2 hours to reach the National Park. Lunch will be served by our cook. At 4:30pm continue the tour to explore the jungle and try to find Proboscis monkeys and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight on the boat.
Day 02: Houseboat – Camp Leaky – Houseboat (B,L,D)
After breakfast, proceed upstream to Camp Leaky. When you arrive at Camp Leaky you will begin hiking and searching for wildlife such as orangutang, gibbons, wild pigs and the many bird species that call this jungle home. Proceed back to the boat for lunch. From 2pm the feeding program begins. Feeders will carry food stuffs to the feeding platforms. This is your best opportunity to see the amazing “people of the forest”. Once the feeding has finished you are welcome to sit and observe these amazing creatures interact wit one another. Giving you a unique opportunity to see the different personalities of these primates. Once the animals move off, head back to the boat for dinner and overnight.
Day 03: Houseboat – Pondok Tanggui Orangutan Rehabilitation – Tanjung Harapan Camp – Houseboat (B,L,D)
After breakfast you will boat down stream to get to the second station called Pondok Tanggui, where the youngsters and juveniles are rehabilitated. It will take approximately 2 hours to reach this Camp from Camp Leakey. Then continue the tour to Tanjung Harapan village where we can see the Malayan settlement at the gate of the National park. Lunch will be served en-route by our own cook on the boat. In the afternoon you will visit the First Camp Tanjung Harapan just across the river from Tanjung Harapan Village to see the last Orangutan feeding. You will then head back to the boat around 4pm. Then begin your boar ride down the river to the Nipah Palm area. Dinner and overnight on the boat.
Day 04: Houseboat – Kumai – Airport (B)
Rise with the down chorus. Perhaps catch glimpses of gibbons or Orangutans from the boat deck. Enjoy your breakfast and continue down river to Kumai then transfer to Pangkalan bun Airport for your next destination. It will be the end of your Orangutan adventure but certainly wont be your last.
