ITINERARY

Day 1 and 2: Port Elizabeth – Addo Elephant Rest Camp

Takeover of the rental car at the airport. Drive to the Addo Elephant Rest Camp. This is a fairly short drive covering around 100kms. We recommend you drive on the N2 and then onto the N10. Then follow the signs onto the R342 to Addo Elephant National Park.

Today and tomorrow you go in search for the wildlife. In Addo you have the leisure of conducting your own self drive in search of the wildlife. We encourage you to ask the local guides and fellow travellers about the daily sightings.

There is an option to upgrade your travel plans. Our middle tier option is Sibuya River lodge (or similar) and top tier is Kwandawe Ecca Lodge (or similar). These locations offer private guided drives with tracker in Private Game Reserves. Afternoon and morning game drives. Bush walks can be organised but no children under 16 can participate. These PRIVATE reserves offer you the chance at seeing the Big 5  ~ Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard.

Day 3: Addo Elephant National Park – Saint Francis Bay.

Drive towards the coast. This is roughly 200kms. We recommend that you head back to the N10 as the route that you entered back to Port Elizabeth. Continue along the N2 until you see signs for Saint Francis Bay. Enjoy the afternoon exploring the small town of Saint Francis Bay. Head down to the beach for a sunset walk or swim.

Accommodation at Oyster Bay Lodge. Middle tier option is inclusive of Bed, Breakfast and dinner. Top tier is All inclusive ~ Bed, Breakfast, dinner, beverages and 1 activity.

4 – 5 Day: Saint Francis Bay – Knysna

Overnight at The Rex or similar. We suggest as our middle tier option The Hog Hollow or similar and as our top tier  The Conrad Pezula.

Day 6: Knysna – Oudtshoorn

Drive over the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn. This is roughly 150kms. Visit an ostrich farm close to your accommodation.

7 – 8 Day: Oudtshoorn – Gondwana Game Reserve

After breakfast, drive to the Gondwana Game Reserve. This is about 150kms. You will have the opportunity to experience game drives in open off-road vehicle.

There is also a special children’s program (from 6 years). Overnight Garden Route Game Lodge or similar. As our middle and top tier options we recommend Gondwana Game Lodge or similar.

The journey is around 200kms and takes you to the beautiful nature reserve of De Hoop. Top tier activities are included. Lodging De Hoop Vlei Cottage or similar. Middle tier De Hoop Opstal Houses or similar. Our top tier recommendation is Grootbos Garden Lodge.

Day 10: De Hoop Nature Reserve to Cape Town

Drive to Cape Town and stop at Betty’s Bay. This is a 200km drive depending on which route you would like to do. There you will have the chance to see the African Penguin Colony that resides here.
